By: Mark St. Germain
Eleanor is not only a portrait of an important woman, but one of the most influential first ladies the world has ever seen. From her "Ugly Duckling" upbringing to her unorthodox marriage to Franklin, Eleanor puts her controversial life, loves, and passions on the stage. There is a stranger inside her; a stranger she is not brave enough to want to come to know.
St. Germain brings us a wealth of American cultural history in this witty, poignant, intensely dramatic, and insightful drama.

Ellen McQueen*
Ellen McQueen [She/her] (Eleanor) has been performing on Atlanta area stages since she came here to do a show for Horizon Theatre in 1985, and just kept going. She was most recently seen in Greener Pastures at Aurora Theatre. ART Station credits: Talley's Folley, Blythe Spirit, Chattahoochee Rising, Making God Laugh, Beer for Breakfast, Christmas Gift. In addition to acting, Ellen directs and writes. Her most recent directing project was Peter Hardy’s The Other Part of the Picture, for the 25th anniversary season of the Essential Theatre Festival. For ART Station, she has directed Your Mama, a musical which she also wrote.
During the pandemic, Ellen took up a new form of creative work, which she is loving— creative editing; helping writers in their development of new work.
Thank you to David and Michael for inviting me on board for this one. And thank you to our leaders of integrity, like Eleanor Roosevelt and the late Jimmy Carter, who work tirelessly to help the world be a better place.
