Our building

Empty outdoor patio with outdoor seating on a city sidewalk, striped awnings over windows, and red accents on buildings and street furniture.

The Trolley Car Barn was built by the Georgia Railway and Power Company in 1913 and the building served as a terminus for the trolley car system from Atlanta to Stone Mountain. The building was renovated into a multi-disciplinary arts center.

Black and white photo of an old brick building with a trolley marked 'Atlanta Rapid Transit Co.' stopped on a streetcar track. Two men are standing near the trolley, and there is a small person sitting on a porch on the left side of the image.

The Center is located in Stone Mountain Village, a small Southern town on Atlanta’s east side and adjacent to Stone Mountain Park, the largest tourist attraction in the State of Georgia. The founding group completed a 3.5 million dollar campaign to purchase and renovate the historic Trolley Car Barn into a contemporary arts center.

The ART in the ART Station name comes from a 1913 photograph of a trolley car in front of the building with the wording of “Atlanta Rapid Transit” written on the side of the trolley car.
