Class Descriptions

Music classes are based on the Orff system of music education which encourages students to compose, improvise and use percussion instruments such as xylophones, drums, and cowbells.

Creative dramatics helps the campers to feel comfortable with self expression. Given a task, scene, or situation, the campers learn how to build a character and interact with the others with confidence. Improvisations are a favorite way to improve their listening skills and ability to be flexible so they can contribute to the scene.

Creative movement classes are for moving and grooving. Younger campers work on counting and directions on simple dance steps. Using props encourages self expression and movement during various styles of music. The older campers learn full routines using various types of dancing.

Pottery classes are for getting their hands dirty. Campers will create several pieces using techniques such as hand building, sculpting, decorating, and glazing. Pieces will be fired and ready for pick up within two weeks after camp.

Visual Arts classes are designed to allow campers to create a masterpiece in a variety of mediums. Age appropriate variations of projects include stained glass, mosaics, collage, painting, drawing, fiber art, graphic design, and a group project.
